Lucy Routh

Lucy grew up in Lancashire and studied Fine Art at the University of Wales, graduating in 1997. She now lives and works in North Somerset.

Lucy has a distinctive style contrasting traditional subject matter with a unique contemporary approach. Her work is inspired by the environment around her. She chooses to paint subjects that in shape, form and colour are interesting and beautiful to look at.

She uses a combination of acrylic paint and ink to create images that are bold, bright and fresh with a sense of space and simplicity.

Lucy applies paint, colour and detail only to the living/natural elements of the subject. The inanimate parts of the painting are left to a line drawing bringing the subject to the fore. She says "I love the intensity and definition of the lines; they are fluid allowing movement in the subject."

Lucy's work is exhibited nationally including representation at both London and Bristol Affordable Arts Fairs.
